How do I choose a life coach?
The coaching relationship is based on trust – it’s crucial that you feel able to express yourself openly and safely with your coach. You can ask your Self ~ "is this coach someone who I'm comfortable talking to?"
Our advice is to have a brief phone talk with a prospective coach first, read about her and her approach, and then mindfully trust your intuition or your gut feeling.
Do you think she’ll be able to help you with your specific situation? What are her coaching rates? And of course, are the rate plans within your financial reach at this time?
I'd like to see if you’re the right life coach for me?
That can be arranged fairly easily. The best way to discover if we're a good match is to schedule a complimary coaching consultation session.
The initial consultation gives you the opportunity to ask whatever questions you might have about our coaching approach, training, fee structure, how coaching works, and how coaching can help you. We may also do a sample coaching session with which will also help you to get a feel for AfraShe's style and how we'd be working together.
How do I know if life coaching is right for me?

- Are you ready to let go of unresolvable inner-struggles and turn them into proactive successes?
- Are you prepared to make committed, focused actions towards a lifestyle change in order to create a life that is more satisfactory and fulfilling?
If you’ve answered “yes” to any of these questions, and you're seriously ready to begin taking the action-steps to proactively ReShape™ & SheChange™ your life, then you're a great candidate for life coaching.
Once you make the decision to work with AfraShe as your coach, we decide how often and how long we'll need to meet in order to realize the results that you want.
Generally, the more often we meet, the quicker that you'll see the results you want. We'll initially schedule regular coaching calls or in-peron sessions, where you'll call or come to the office for at a pre-arranged time.
Through our mutual process, you'll discover how to identify and then change what's not working about the particular issue you're working on, order to create a more productive, fulfilled, and WellBalanced™ life for your Self; one where waking up each morning can be fun again.
Throughout the duration of our coaching process, you'll continue to acquire and utilize tools that will become yours for life. You'll learn to re-integrate your negative internal voice and replace her with an a more Sheinpired™ inner-awarness so that you can accomplish whatever you want, because you are able to acquire and utilize the tools needed to successfully move forward to accomplish your goals.
Life coaching pairs flexibleness, and an openess to learning with a willingness to take planned actions that will bring about measurable results in your life. It's a process in which you can move towards a more fulfilled, balanced, and productive life, in a relatively short time period simply by following through on your Individualized Proactive ReShape™ SheChange™ Action Plan.
In many ways, coaching is perfect for anyone who feels stuck or confused about a life direction, yet still remains committed to creating positive change for themselves.
It's also great for anyone who has chosen a new direction, and wants to be supported, guided, and challenged to move forward.
It's ideal for anyone who wants to realize goals which may include results such as; increased hope, and happiness; holistic wellness awareness; emotional inner-peace, and learning to lead a happier, more fulfilling SistahPeaceful™ life /lifestyle . . .
Yes, we ask for a 3 months committment, unless we've agreed to do a special "Quick Strategy" series of sessions. Apart from that, we strongly recommend that our clients make a 3 month committment to themselves and our process. Changing life habits takes time.
The research suggests that if we wish to change or add a new behavior/ habit we must practice that new behavior/ habit daily for at least 21 days.
Doing so, you can expect to see changes towards your wanted results, but you'll need to committ doing the work necessary to get the desired results.
Essentially this means that if you committ to proactively working with us, strive to apply what you're learning, agree to sometimes step out side of your comfort zone, actively engage in mindful Self-development and Self-discovery, along with other Self-affirmative actions between our calls for 3 months, then you'll see the results you're seeking to have.
Most clients participate in coaching for 6 to 8 months on average [and some for years] because they continue to receive benefits from the coaching process.
Beyond the recommended 3 months minimum, how long you committ is soley up to you to decide just how it is that you are benefitting from coaching and how long you should do so.
When you reach your original goals, you may want to take a short break from coaching, or you may want to set new goals and work towards those new goals ~ it's totally up to you to decide.
What if I’m not happy with the coaching? Am I stuck?
We don't really have a refund policy per se, because this is service-oriented work, and because our packages are generaly offered at a discounted rate for committing to a series of multiple sessions, rather than paying for services at our higher singular hour rates.
That being said, if it does become clear that our coaching process really isn’t working for you, then we ask that you bring this to our attention as soon as possible, so that we can try a different approach, or so that we can discuss what’s going on.
After all, being "not happy with the coaching" because you are unwilling/ resisting making the committed effort in this change-oriented process that will bring about the results you've said you want to have, can often be an normal reaction; and it could mean that we simpy need to adjust your goals and action plan.
If, however, after giving that recommended adjustment a committed try; or after our having mutually trying something different in our plan of action, you still feel that our process is really not working ~ then we’re mindfully open and available to discussing a refund of a portion of any remaining coaching fees that you've pre-paid. And,we'll also offer you referrals to 2-3 of our colleagues, who might be a better coaching fit for you, if you're interested.
Why are sessions held over the phone?
Today, many life coaches work with our clients over the phone. Coaching is about strategy, accountability and acquiring new skills for personal and professional success.
Having a bit of personal space during sessions can often reduce a lot of the pressure that we tend to feel in face to face meetings, and allow us to get to the core issues much more quickly.
Phone sessions can also help make your sessions easier to commit to, which help you to stay consistent with sessions ~ even when you're traveling or trying to navigate tight schedules.
Does meeting by phone work?
In short, Yes! Some of our local clients actually prefer phone sessions, find them convenient and as effective as in-person sessions. That being said, we do ask that you block out the time that we are working together, as if you were meeting at the office.
This means no multi-tasking on the computer or trying to accomplish other things during our scheduled sessions. This also means setting aside a space on your end so you have privacy enough to be able to be fully present for our calls.
When you committ to mindfully doing this, you'll be sure to get as much out of our meeting as if we'd met in person. Please note that tele-coaching still has the same levels of accountability and committment as would be expected of you during in-person sessions.
Can we meet in person?
Yes, we can meet in person with our clients who are local to and who can come to our office here in the LA area. Since we work with clients who are not local to us, we also offer tele-coaching services. Some of our local clients actually prefer phone sessions and find them convenient and as effective as in-person sessions.
What’s the difference between coaching and therapy or counseling?
Coaching generally looks at where your life is in the now and where you want it to be in the "do-able" future. Coaching typically focuses on current goals, and assists you to proactively move forward towards a more fulfilling and balanced future.
Coaches are collaborators, rather than healers. Unlike therapists or counselors, they do not diagnose, monitor or seek to reduce symptoms of mental disorder.
Coaching and therapy/ counseling can be used separately or together by clients, depending on their needs.
Each can help you to build a strong foundation for life satisfaction, but they do have a few fundamental differences. Coaching is about strategy, accountability and acquiring new skills for personal and professional success.
Therapy/counseling tends to help you to untangle prolonged and life debiltating problems which have somehow caused your life to be measurably "out-of-control", or emotionally unmanageable; and to help you end or reduce emotional pain or to bring closure to deeply troubling events, among other mental and emotional "troubles".
Is it confidential?
Yes! No one will know that we are working together unless you tell them. Details of our sessions are not discussed outside our sessions, unless you request that this be done [in writing] and it's mutually agreed to do so.
Okay, I’m ready, what does it cost?
Coaching should be viewed as an investment in Self and future. What’s it worth to you? What value do you put on being able to affirmatively accomplish those important goals that you've set for yourself this year?
What is it costing you to NOT be able to balance your work and your personal life? For clients who want quicker results and have the budget for it, we suggest meeting more often.

As you can see ~ where you live is not a problem with tele-coaching. Our clients span various time zones, and a few countries. With coaching by phone, that's really not a problem.
